Back to The Journey of Health and Well-being for West Virginia and the World

Signal and noise

I have reflected a lot about the many blessings I have gotten from coming back to West Virginia.

Perhaps the greatest is the feeling that perhaps for the first time in my adult life, I understand the difference between the signal and the noise in my own life.

There is so much noise around us all the time.

Digital communications, emails, social media, constant news cycles, and focus on ego-based accomplishments.

Competition for almost everything. Winning and losing. Rankings and listings.

I think this goes against our spiritual and human foundation that facilitates health and happiness.

I believe that we are driven to cooperate, love and help each other.

To embrace community.

To enjoy the gifts of meaningful moments, people, purpose and beauty that surrounds us every day.

The gifts that we often miss because we are too busy chasing the noise of our lives.

Many people are curious what is going on in West Virginia.

How can we attract the people we are recruiting?

There is no real secret or magic potion - it is because we are reconnecting to the weak signal that connects us to the things that really matter.

Our purpose in life.

To help. To serve. To love. To hope. To create. To have wonder. To see miracles. To see possibility. To trust. To cooperate.

To be a community of change.

In a world of self-focus and self-induced expectations and limitations, we want to be different. Purposeful as an organization and as a state.

To be a beacon to shine the light on what is really important.

I think the world needs this and I know that I have personally benefitted from being able to find this in here. Almost Heaven, West Virginia.
